MAINTENANCE

Zero ongoing maintenance

Unlike lead-acid substation batteries, lithium modules require no watering, no equalisation charges and no topping up. Battery room visits are for inspection only — not for routine chemical maintenance.

FOOTPRINT

Significantly smaller footprint

Industrial lithium batteries deliver the same Ah capacity as lead-acid in a fraction of the space. This is particularly relevant in existing substations where the battery room has fixed dimensions and a lead-acid replacement would otherwise require civil modification.

SERVICE LIFE

Longer service life, deeper discharge

Lithium battery chemistry tolerates deeper discharge cycles without the degradation associated with deep cycling lead-acid cells. The result is a longer effective service life and more usable capacity over the life of the installation — reducing total cost of ownership.

Faster recharge after discharge events

Lithium modules accept charge at a higher rate than lead-acid, returning to full standby capacity faster after a discharge event. In substation environments where the next grid fault could follow shortly after restoration, fast recharge is a meaningful operational advantage.

The most widely specified voltage for substation DC standby. A 110V lithium module replaces conventional lead-acid strings in transmission and distribution substations without changes to the DC bus architecture — delivering the same nominal voltage with a significantly smaller footprint and no ongoing maintenance requirement.

For higher-voltage substation standby systems, a 220V lithium module provides reliable DC backup in utility substations, industrial switchyards and critical infrastructure. Equivalent or greater energy capacity to lead-acid in a fraction of the physical volume, with no acid, no ventilation requirements and no equalisation cycles.
